Ben Whishaw is set to star in Steven Spielberg's 'Robopocalypse'.

The 31-year-old actor has reportedly entered negotiations to take on a key role as a hacker named Lurker in the sci-fi film, Variety reports.

Should the 'Skyfall' actor sign up for the motion picture then he looks set to star alongside 'Avengers Assemble' actor Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway, who is thought to be in talks to take on the lead female role in the film, which is set in the aftermath of a robot uprising.

'Robopocalypse' is based on the book by Daniel H. Wilson, which tells the story of ''artificial intelligence known as Archos [who] comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication''.

Ben is due to play Q in forthcoming James Bond movie 'Skyfall' - which is released next month - and he is set to appear in the forthcoming big screen adaptation of 'Cloud Atlas' alongside Tom Hanks and Halle Berry.
