Bethenny Frankel has sold her 'Skinnygirl' brand to 'Fortune Brands Inc.
Bethenny Frankel, the American reality television star and businesswoman, has reportedly sold her low-calorie drinks brand 'Skinnygirl', according to the Wall Street Journal. Fortune Brands are looking to build on the rapid growth of the 'Skinnygirl Margarita', a bottled cocktail that is just 100 calories per four-ounce serving. The company will reportedly introduce a number of new drinks under the Skinnygirl label. The 'Margarita' has quickly become one of the largest ready-to-drink cocktail brands in the U.S and sales have been helped by the popularity of 40-year-old Frankel, who has appeared on 'The Real Housewives of New York'. Growth of the brand has been so rapid that Frankel's company has reportedly struggled to keep up with the demand. Speaking about the sale, the reality star said it was a "very difficult decision" but ultimately she "wanted big muscle behind it and "wanted it now".
As well as her Skinnygirl brand, Bethenny Frankel is also a best-selling author and has released a number of diet books. She is currently working on two more books, titled, 'A Place of Yes' and 'Naturally Fit Pregnancy'.
