Beyonce Joins Support Of Frank Ocean's Coming Out
Beyonce has joined the long list of people who have come out in support of Odd Future member Frank Ocean after he came out about his sexuality in public last week. Ocean's coming out has caused a lot of scrutiny, largely because it is unusual for an artist in the hip hop genre to admit that they have a sexual orientation other than straight, thanks to the solid machoism associated with the genre.
Ocean's coming out has changed the game somewhat though, and it's heartening to see the love that he's found. Beyonce is the latest to join in, writing a handwritten letter and posting it on her site that reads "Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration" over the top of a picture of the hip hop star.
Last week Ocean wrote on his Tumblr that his first love was a 19 year-old man, going on to claim that he'd planned to include the revelation in the liner notes for his forthcoming album 'Channel Orange' - out July 17th, incidentally - but that rumors about him had forced his hand. The news comes at odds with the lyrics of his group Odd Future, who constantly use the word "f***ot" and on more than one occasion badmouth homosexuals.
