Bosses of the American version of reality TV series Big Brother have spiced up the franchise's fourth season by throwing a bunch of ex-lovers together - without any of them knowing.

The new and daring twist to the show will see ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends and ex-spouses arriving to live at the Big Brother house for several weeks without realising just who their housemates will be.

Executive producers Arnold Shapiro and ALLISON GRODNER, who secretly hunted down the former partners of their selected contestants, have called the new show BIG BROTHER 4: The X Factor.

This year (03), 13 contestants will reside together - eight of whom will be spending that time with an ex-lover in the house.

Shapiro says, "We think we have the most exciting and unpredictable twist that we have ever done. I can hardly wait to see how it plays out. Allison and I and the entire casting department can qualify as spies for the CIA."
