Beloved British Tv show Dad's Army is to be revived for the big screen as a new movie starring Bill Nighy and Toby Jones.

The series, about a group of soldiers in Britain's Home Guard during World War Ii, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier and Clive Dunn, ran for nine seasons between 1968 and 1977.

Dad's Army is now set for a cinematic revival nearly 50 years after it first hit Tv screens. Jones has signed up to play Captain George Mainwaring, the role made famous by late star Lowe, while Nighy will step into Le Mesurier's part of Sergeant Arthur Wilson.

War veteran Jimmy Perry, 90, who wrote the original series, will produce the new film.

Dad's Army previously ventured into cinemas in a 1971 film which was shot inbetween the third and fourth series.
