Bjork's innovative app accompanying her Biophilia album is set to be added to the curriculum in European schools.

The Icelandic artist's 2011 studio album has media components including a suite of 10 mini-apps which directly relate to the theme of each song on the record, along with interactive graphics, animation and musical scoring and she is teaming up with educators at the Nordic Council to incorporate the interactive components in their curriculum.

The Biophilia Educational Programme serves as an experimental project, but it has proved popular with "kids who have Adhd (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) or dyslexia," according to the singer.

The program, which was "designed to inspire children to explore their own creativity, and to learn about music and science through new technologies," has been used in Oslo, Norway; Reykjavik, Iceland; Paris, France; Sao Paulo, Brazil and Los Angeles.

In addition to being used in European schools, Biophilia has become the New York Museum of Modern Art's first downloadable app.
