Bob Geldof has got married.

The 63-year-old rocker and long-term partner Jeanne Marine, 49, were watched by close family members as they tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in the Rayol Canadel Sur Mer in the South of France.

The couple had planned to keep their nuptials secret but their intentions were given away by Bob's eldest daughter Fifi, 32, who described herself and fiance Andrew Robertson as ''wedding w***ers'' before clarifying on Instagram they were not getting married.

A source added to The Sun newspaper: ''Fifi gave the game away when she panicked about getting her passport sorted for her dad's wedding. Jeanne has connections to Rayol Canadel so it all makes sense.''

The Boomtown Rats rocker - who was previously married to late presenter Paula Yates - has been in a relationship with Jeanne for 19 years and proposed to her shortly after his daughter Peaches died from an overdose last April.

His friend Jerry Hall previously declared the engagement a great thing because the family needed something to bring ''joy and light'' following their tragic loss.

She said at the time: ''Bob has proposed. She is over the moon. Jeanne Marine has been a rock and a tower of strength over this. I'm so excited for her I am bursting to tell someone.

''Bob and Jeanne have been through hell, but they are determined something positive will come out of it. After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light.''
