SIR Bob Geldof and the Sex Pistols are among several new names to be added to a list of stars to be honoured at London's new Walk Of Fame.

The Avenue Of The Stars is dedicating silver plaques to 100 legendary British and Commonwealth celebrities and will be unveiled in the capital's Covent Garden district on Sunday (18SEP05).

Other stars added to the list include SIR Ian McKellen, Tom Jones, DAME Judi Dench and the late Richard Burton, Cary Grant, David Niven, SIR John Gielgud and SIR NOEL COWARD.

They join already-announced recipients Nicole Kidman, SIR Elton John and THE Beatles.

Sunday's opening ceremony will feature a sketch by comedians Ricky Gervais and John Cleese, and performances from Queen, Jamie Cullum and Charlotte Church.

More names will be added each year until the avenue begins to rival the Hollywood Walk Of Fame tribute to 2,000 stars, which runs along Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
