British actor Bob Hoskins maintains a healthy detachment from his acting career because there is much more to life than being a film star.

The Who Framed Roger Rabbit? actor prefers to let his latest performance go as soon as he's left the set - while many of his contemporaries live for their craft.

The 62-year-old tells British magazine HOTDOG, "I know a lot of people - the business is their life. It's my job. I do my job, but there's a lot more going on in my life.

"When I walk away I flush, and that's the end of it. Sometimes I've been to a movie or watched a film on television, and realised only at the end of it that I was in it."
