The touring hip-hop festival Rock the Bells has announced its line-up, revealing that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Wiz Khalifa and Ice Cube are amongst the major acts performing in August. RZA is also one of the headline acts and will be curating the festival's 36 Chambers Stage. Presale tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday (May 18, 2012) and general sale starts the following day.
The tour begins on August 19 and 20, 2012 in San Bernadino, California. From there, it moves to Mountain View, California, before taking up residence in Homdel, New Jersey on September 1, 2012 for two days. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will be performing the entirety of their album '1999 Eternal,' Rolling Stone have reported. They're not the only ones harking back to the 1990's for a spot of nostalgia, either, apparently. Redman and Method Man will be performing their 1999 album 'Blackout!' as well.
The Rock the Bells festival began in 2004 and originally only took place in Southern California. The very first festival, in 2004, featured a performance from the reformed Wu Tang Clan, who performed just four months before Ol Dirty Bastard passed away. Other acts to have been signed up to the festival include "MAC Miller, J Cole, Kid Cudi, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Atmosphere, Missy Elliott and Timbaland, Redman and Method Man, Nas, Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar, Dipset, Tyga and Salt N Pepa. Yes, Salt-N-Pepa. Looks as though nostalgia really is the order of the day for this touring hip-hop extravaganza.
