U2 star Bono has teamed up with guitar experts at Gretsch to create a signature instrument he plans to sell to benefit his Red charity.

The Irish rocker, who is currently recovering from injuries he sustained in a bicycle accident in New York this past summer (14), will donate a portion of profits from the sale of the Electromatic Center-Block Bono 'Signature' Model to the foundation he set up to raise funds for the fight against Aids, tuberculosis and malaria in 2006.

Bono says, "The (Gretsch)Red guitar is a guitarist's dream, and the reality is that every time someone buys one, it's raising money to fight Aids. That money can buy life-saving medicine for pregnant mothers living with Hiv, and prevent their babies being born with the virus. They're the same pills that will help deliver an Aids Free Generation."
