Brad Paisley hasn't always been a music success story - one of his first live performances left him bruised and humiliated.
The singer thought he'd scored a big break when he was asked to sing the national anthem before an ice hockey game in his native West Virginia - but the performance didn't go to plan.
Paisley reveals, "Before I had a record deal, I was in West Virginia and they asked me to sing the national anthem at a minor league hockey game. They had the mic in the middle of the ice. I had to go out in the dark and then they were going to put the spotlight on me.
"When I walked out, I slipped, and I'm on my butt and then the spotlight hit me, looking like a crime scene."
