Brad Pitt, the American actor and father to six children with Angelina Jolie, has acknowledged that his family "seems extreme", reports the UK's Daily Mail. Brad Pitt and the 35-year-old actress have three biological children together and have adopted a further three.
The actor had no children with his previous wife Jennifer Aniston, but says he sees no problem in having multiple kids in a short space of time, saying, "I know it seems extreme from the outside, but I've always kind of operated this way. When I know, I know, and why mess around?" Angelina adopted son Maddox from an orphanage in Cambodia in 2002 and she and Pitt then adopted Zahara from Ethiopia and Pax from Vietnam. The actor, who is currently starring in Terrence Malick's 'The Tree of Life', says visiting his close friends "large family" as a child inspired him to one day have his own, saying, "I just decided then if I was ever going to do it - this left some indelible mark on me - if I was ever going to do it, that's the way I was going to do it". Jolie gave birth to the couple's biological daughter Shiloh in 2006 and their twins Vivienne and Knox in 2008.
Brad Pitt, Angelina, and the couple's six children are at the Cannes Film Festival this week. In his new movie, the actor plays a father who deals with questions about the creation of life itself.
