Brad Pitt has found himself having to refute claims that he called ex-wife JENNIFER ANNISTON dull in an interview with Parade magazine. The 47 year-old, currently filming zombie flick 'World War Z,' reportedly claimed that he spent his marriage to the former 'Friends' star pretending that it was "something it wasn't."

"I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic," reportedly said Pitt, "It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it."

Pitt and Anniston were married in 2000 but split in 2005, shortly before the actor struck up a relationship with current other half, Angelina Jolie. Fox News reports Pitt going on to praise Jolie, claiming "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom . I'm so happy to have her."

A statement made late on Thursday (15/9/2011) though has sought to back track Pitt's comments regarding his former wife, "It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly," he went on to say, "the point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for."

Anniston hasn't, as yet, replied.
