Brad Pitt has splashed out £2million pounds on a vintage Spitfire fighter aircraft after becoming obsessed with WWII while filming 'Fury.'
Brad Pitt bought a Spitfire plane.
The actor is said to have become obsessed with all things related to World War II since he began filming his upcoming war drama 'Fury,' and has chosen to splash out £2million on one of the fighter aircrafts.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Brad, who has done everything from sleep in the trenches to learn to drive a tank for the film, has now invested in one of the iconic machines.''
The 49-year-old actor is already a qualified pilot but will reportedly receive lessons on how to safely manage the vintage aircraft, which was popularly used by the RAF and other allied forces during the Second World War, at the Boultbee Flying Academy in Oxford.
A spokesman for the academy said: ''We don't comment on who we teach, but we have high-profile people. Buying Spitfires is very popular with wealthy individuals.''
Brad's six children - who he raises with fiancée Angelina Jolie - will not be taking family trips in their father's new purchase as the Spitfire has only one seat, for the pilot.
The 'World War Z' star recently came under fire for continuing filming for 'Fury' in the Oxfordshire countryside on Remembrance Sunday, but villagers from Shirburn, where shooting has taken place for the last seven weeks, are expected to be more forgiving once they discover the film has pumped an estimated £1million into the local economy.
