Miley Cyrus and BRET MICHAELS shut down New York City's Central Park on Friday morning (18Jun10) when hundreds of fans turned out to watch the pair play a free concert.
The recovering Poison frontman rocked the crowd with Cyrus, teaming up for a new rendition of his band's hit Every Rose Has Its Thorn during a live performance on U.S. TV show Good Morning America.
The performance was part of Michaels' rock comeback after suffering a series of health crises, including a near-fatal brain haemorrhage in April (10).
Explaining her decision to cover the song, Cyrus, 17, said: "My first concert was Poison. (Every Rose Has Its Thorn) is my mum's favourite song. I did this song mostly for my mum."
Michaels used the opportunity to praise the teen, insisting he was thrilled to perform the reworked track with her, while he also stepped forward to defend the former Disney star, who has attracted controversy over a string of raunchy performances.
Michaels said, "She's a great musician and she has a great soul and she can sing and she's one of the people who will make that huge transition into being a superstar."
