Bridget Jones Diary will return for a third film instalment, it was announced yesterday, and although they've managed to convinced Renee Zellweger to return, she insists that she won't be putting the weight back on to play the hapless Bridget. The Daily Mail reported that she is worried about the long term health issues of weight fluctuation, and she said in an interview: "'I had a panic attack with all the specialists talking about how bad this is for you long-term, putting on that much weight in short periods of time." Insiders told the Daily Mail that she may instead wear a 'fat suit' for filming.
Although it has not been confirmed that Hugh Grant and Colin Firth will return, Oscar winner Firth has revealed some plot details to Access Hollywood. He said: "I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can't have children, I think that's the way it goes on.So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [played by Hugh Grant] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she's left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?" Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that the film was going ahead yesterday (12th August), but there is no release date as of yet.
