Britney Spears has revealed how she suffered "panic attack after panic attack" during her first day of filming on The X Factor USA. The admittance goes some way to explaining Spears' strange behaviour during the early stages of the competition, when she regularly walked off-set, reports the UK's Sun newspaper.
The 30-year-old pop superstar said she instantly struggled with nerves on the show. Despite regularly playing to thousands of fans around the globe, Britney was relatively new to reality television, and said, "I was extremely nervous. I was having panic attack after panic attack". Nevertheless, boss Simon Cowell insisted that the 'Toxic' star has been a revelation on the second season of the show, saying, "On the first day, 100 per cent she didn't think she was going to be able to do this. It's the Roman Colosseum - 5000 people booing if you say no.But I'm seeing this woman blossom week by week doing this. I think she's going to be good for the show, and I think the show is going to be good for her". Back in May, it was reported that Britney had walked off the show just 30 minutes into her first day of auditions in Austin, Texas. At the time, one fan had revealed how the mother-of-two looked incredibly nervous, saying, "She was like a rabbit caught in headlights".
Britney is joined on the new judging panel by Cowell, music industry veteran L.A Reid, and Demi Lovato. The second season of the singing competition begins on September 12, 2012.
