Avril Lavigne wishes she could travel back in time to become a member of the English or French royal families.

The 'What The Hell' hitmaker - who has been dating reality TV star Brody Jenner for almost two years - is keen to hop in a time machine and experience life as a wealthy European aristocrat.

She said: "I wish I could travel back in time to somewhere in France or England, and I'd be royalty."

However, the Canadian rocker explained in terms of real life, the most cherished moment of her music career to date is performing alongside Alanis Morissette in 2005.

Speaking as part of an interview with Women's Wear Daily, she said: "My best on-stage moment was performing with Alanis Morissette in 2005 at the House Of Blues.

"She's a Canadian rocker, so she was always very inspiring to me."

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old singer is hoping to pen her own tome at some point in the future about her life experiences, as she admitted she doesn't have the attention span to read books written by other people.

Avril explained: "I don't like reading. I'm way too A.D.D (attention deficit disorder) for that. Maybe I'll write my own book. I'd like to do that. I've been jotting things down along the way."
