Actress Busy Philipps badgered her Cougar Town co-star Courteney Cox into joining Twitter.com after spending the past two years inundated with messages from fans begging for the former Friends star to sign up.
Cox became the latest celebrity to join the social networking craze when she tweeted for the first time last month (Jan12) - and it was all down to constant pestering from Philipps, Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence, and the actress' estranged husband David Arquette, who serves as the show's executive producer.
The bubbly blonde tells PR.com, "We did, and Bill Lawrence... Not a day went by on Twitter over the last two-and-a-half years since the show has been on the air that I don't get a tweet asking, 'Can you please tell Courteney to join Twitter?'"
And Philipps is convinced keeping in regular touch with devotees will only help to boost Cox's fanbase and her efforts to keep the sitcom on air.
She says, "I think celebrities who manage to use it to their advantage can really use it to their advantage. I think if you don't understand it or you don't feel like it's really your thing it's neither here nor there for you. I don't think it's going to make or break you. But I have seen it make celebrities."
