Beyonce has been earmarked to star in an upcoming movie called One Hit Wonders. The forthcoming project, from the Glee writer Ryan Murphy will also star Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz. A story on Perez Hilton's site today suggests that Ryan Murphy has called on Paltrow to help with the production of the show, whilst Ryan himself will be on script-writing duties.
The movie is said to center around three pop singers who were one hit wonders in the 1990s, before their careers crashed. The three singers decided to get together and stage a comeback as a three-piece girl group. The music will reportedly be written by Andy Samberg, The Lonely Island / Saturday Night Live comedian who is no stranger to musical comedy. The exact nature of Beyonce's role has not been confirmed but this at least quells some of the speculation regarding Beyonce's career plans now that she has given birth to her first child, Blue Ivy Carter.
Beyonce Knowles, a former member of the three-piece girl group Destiny's Child, previously starred in the 2006 movie Dreamgirls. That was loosely based on the story of Diana Ross and the Supremes. She played one of the back-up singers to Jennifer Hudson lead singer. Earlier this month, Ryan Tedder - one of Beyonce's songwriters insinuated to the press that the singer could well be releasing two albums this year, as well.
