Camille Grammer has been diagnosed with endometrial cancer.

The 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star, who is the ex-wife of 'Frasier' actor Kelsey Grammer, is recuperating from surgery after having a preventative hysterectomy following an early stage diagnosis of the cancer, which affects the lining of the uterus.

Her representative confirmed to People.com: ''She underwent a radical hysterectomy today. The surgery went well and she is expected to make a complete recovery following a significant recuperation period.

''[She] has been diligent about regular checkups and monitoring, which explains the early detection and rapid treatment.

''Ms. Grammer expresses gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals who have taken such loving and nurturing care of her. She urges all women to be aware of genetic factors relating to women's cancers and get regular checkups.''

The 45-year-old socialite was married to Kelsey, 58, between 1997 and 2011, and the couple have two children together via a surrogate.

Camille split from Kelsey in 2010 and their divorce was finalised in February 2011. Two weeks later, the 'Cheers' actor married his fourth wife, Kayte Walsh.

The reality TV star quit the hit 'Real Housewives' franchise earlier this year after three seasons.
