Carey Mulligan was so desperate to land a role in the forthcoming movie DRIVE, she persuaded the director to rewrite the script and change her character's Latin roots.
The porcelain-skinned star knew she wasn't ideal to play a Mexican single mum in the action film, but managed to convince Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn to cast her anyway.
She recalls, "My agent said, 'The role is a Latina woman in her late-20s but you should just read it.' So I went and met the director and tried to persuade him that he should let me do it."
Refn was so impressed after their meeting, he handed Mulligan the part and altered the character's heritage.
