France's former First Lady Carla Bruni was left shaken after a suspected stalker sneaked into her holiday home last week (ends11Aug13).
The model/singer is currently on vacation at her luxury villa in Cap Negre on the French Riviera, and an unnamed man slipped past security guards and entered the property.
Bruni, who is married to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, was at the home with the couple's 22-month-old daughter Giulia at the time, but the man was stopped by staff before reaching her.
Sarkozy is adamant the incident proves his large security detail, which has raised eyebrows among taxpayers in the country, is necessary to keep his family safe.
A spokesman for the politician says, "(The man) would have been able to get to Mrs. Sarkozy and her child, but luckily he was stopped in time."
The man, believed to be from Germany, was removed from the property but is not thought to have been arrested.
