Pregnant country singer Carrie Underwood is putting off plans to trade in her beloved car for a more child-friendly model because just visiting a dealership leaves her in tears.

The hormonal star is preparing to welcome her first child with husband Mike Fisher and they recently started to shop for a new family vehicle.

However, the Jesus Take the Wheel singer admits their efforts have been unsuccessful to date because she is not yet ready to part ways with her five-year-old auto, and she cannot bear the thought of someone else getting behind the wheel.

She explains, "We're in the process of getting a new car. I've had the same car for five years and we've bonded. It's like a safety thing, we needed a safer car (for the baby).

"We went to the dealership and I looked at the used car area and started crying because I just envisioned my car being in there, somebody else was gonna be driving my car.

"I haven't gotten rid of it yet, we're still trying to figure out what to do with it."

The tearful dealership trip wasn't the only pregnancy-related meltdown the mother-to-be has experienced.

She adds, "The day I realised I could no longer wear my clothes was not a fun day. I was in my closet... we had to go someplace nice and I just started crying and my husband walks in and he's just like, 'I don't know what to do right now...'"
