Cat Deeley has landed the role of hosting new Fox dating show 'The Choice', which has a mysteriously similar concept to NBC's singing contest 'The Voice'. The show, premiering on June 7 2012, will feature "four of the world's most eligible bachelors" sitting in chairs that face away from the girls who are vying for their attention.
In a similar segment to the "blind auditions" of The Voice, the show will see the girls chatting about themselves and trying to land a date. When a bachelor is sufficiently convinced he will pull his "love handle" and - yep, you guessed it - turn around to face the contestant. The final "teams" will each have three women, where a "speed choice" round will eliminate one, with a final challenge round seeing the bachelor finally choose his date. The prize is described as a "dream date" which will "probably be exotic", according to the New York Daily News. Though the show is almost an exact replica of 'The Voice', Nbc bosses are probably thrilled that they've created a programme popular enough for Fox to attempt to emulate.
British born Cat Deeley has become a popular face on American television, and filled in for Kelly Ripa on 'Live with Regis and Kelly' last year. She appeared as a guest judge on Tyra Banks' 'America's Next Top Model' last month and also appeared in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's sitcom 'Life's Too Short'.
