Catherine Zeta-Jones believes her character in new animated film Sinbad: LEGEND OF THE SEVEN SEAS is a revolutionary feminist icon.

The Welsh beauty thinks heroine MARINA sets a fantastic example to young women with her go-getting antics - because female cartoons are too often portrayed as dependent on the help of the hunky male hero.

She explains, "She's such a feisty woman with a great love of life and is a great character for an animated film. So often the princesses have the pretty dresses and they're waiting in the castle and they're the damsel in distress, but she's not like that.

"I think it's good for young girls to see a character Marina. She holds her own and with Sinbad, she's like, 'Anything you can do I can do better.' She's fun and multi-faceted."
