The Writers Guild of America has set a strike authorization vote for Nov. 15and 16 among its 500 members who are employed by CBS News, including newswriters, editors, and desk assistants. WGA writers have been working withouta contract for 2 1/2 years while talks with management have remained at animpasse. In a statement, WGA East President Michael Winshop accused CBS ofcheapening "the crowning legacy of Edward R. Murrow and his colleagues" byrefusing "to offer our dedicated, knowledgeable, hard-working members a fairand respectful contract."
