Cee Lo Green has deleted his Twitter account after allegedly tweeting some controversial views on rape.

According to an article on BuzzFeed, the 39-year-old singer posted several comments about the subject on his social networking account on Tuesday (02.09.14) before deleting the posts and his account, just days after he pleaded no contest to furnishing ecstasy to a 33-year-old woman.

In response to other Twitter users, the 'Bright Lights Bigger City' hitmaker wrote: ''If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent

''People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! (sic)''

But before deleting his account he wrote an apology, stating: ''Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.

''I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it..

''...was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you. (sic)''

Cee Lo's alleged comments come after he appeared at the Los Angeles District Attorney's office on Friday (29.08.14) and pleaded no contest to one felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a female, after she accused him of slipping her the drug without her knowledge in July 2012.

The 'Voice' USA mentor - real name Thomas DeCarlo Callaway - insisted they ''shared'' the drug, and he also entered a special plea in which he maintained his innocence in the case.

The singer was later placed on three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 360 hours of community service and attend 52 Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

He must return to court on March 5, 2015 for a progress report.

This comes after prosecutors rejected a rape charge against him in October 2013, in relation to the same incident, citing insufficient evidence.
