Singer/songwriter Daniel Merriweather has taken another swipe at Celine Dion in an ongoing row over her cover of his song Water And A Flame, accusing the superstar of only choosing the track because of its links to Adele.

The Australian musician has criticised Dion for covering his track and using the title for her new album without publicly acknowledging his contribution, prompting the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker to issue a stinging response through her managers, calling Merriweather's comments "unfair" and "hurtful".

Merriweather has now stepped up the dispute by insisting Dion deliberately chose the track because of its links to British star Adele, who contributed vocals to his version of the song.

In a post on his Facebook.com page, he writes, "In hindsight, I was wrong to say that Celine 'stole' my song, from a songwriting point of view this is not the case at all... It turns out that she didn't realise that Water and a Flame was my song from my album Love & War, instead she thought it was an Adele song.

"She should've just done her homework before she decided to cover my song... name her album after it... and then publicly imply credit to the featured act on the song (Adele). I get that Adele is a major artist and that the association helps her sell albums, but Adele is my friend; and she guested on my song, simple and plain, and that should've been acknowledged before Celine decided to rewrite history."
