Avril Lavigne wants to make a Christmas album.

The 'Sippin' On Sunshine' singer would love to make a festive record where she tackles her favourite Christmas songs.

She told DigitalSpy.co.uk: ''I'm definitely going to keep working. There's lots of stuff I'd like to try, like a Christmas album. I would have to do covers though. I love really traditional Christmas songs.''

Avril is releasing her self-titled new album on November 4 - which she worked on with her new husband, Chad Kroeger of Nickelback - and claims it is her best yet.

She said: ''I mean it! Even if this one isn't called 'Best Damn Thing'. I think it's because we spent such a long time writing it. It's really diverse.

''The first two songs you've heard [singles 'Rock N Roll' and 'Here's To Never Growing Up'] - well, the rest of the album is nothing like that. There's rock, piano songs, stripped down stuff... there's an electronic song called 'Hello Kitty'.''

While her new album may be the best she's recorded, Avril's favourite song of her career so far is still ballad 'I'm With You' from her 2002 debut album 'Let Go'.

She added: ''It's still a challenging song vocally and the crowd always get into it.''
