Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum found out they were expecting a baby girl from a cake.

Instead of finding out the news in hospital, the 32-year-old actress, who welcomed the couple's first child, Everly, in London last week, asked her doctor to help her to unveil the baby's gender in a sweet surprise.

A source said: ''Jenna had her doctor call a bakery with the baby's gender. So she and Channing learned they were having a girl when they cut into the cake and saw the pink colour inside.''

The couple are planning to return to Los Angeles with their new bundle of joy as soon as the baby gets a passport.

Another insider told Us Weekly magazine: ''They'll return to LA when the baby's able to fly.''

Jenna previously revealed she plans to be a working mum as she doesn't want to miss out on a role in new US TV show 'Witches of East End'.

Speaking before the birth, she said: ''I got the TV show and found out I was pregnant at the same time. It's overwhelming, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

''I'll learn manage love, work and a baby all at once. It's a crash course. I think, 'How am I going to do all this?' I have no idea what I'm up against. But I'm as mentally prepared as I can be. It's an adventure!''
