Charlie's Angels actress Drew Barrymore was hugely unpopular during her days at school, despite being a star from a very early age.

The 28-year-old began appearing in films aged just one, and comes from a long line of Hollywood actors - but it still wasn't enough for her classmates to pay her any favourable attention.

She says, "I had a hard time at school. People didn't talk to me. I didn't have a lot of friends. It seemed like the boys were really into the girls who had tight bodies and were hot."

But lacking popularity taught twice-married Barrymore a few lessons about the opposite sex.

She explains, "When I got out of school, I realised I would never want a guy who wants me because I giggle and flip my hair and have a hot body.

"I want a guy to like me because I'm intelligent and can carry on an interesting conversation. I want someone who will be proud of my accomplishments. When you're young, you try to get acceptance from boys, but they don't even know what they want."
