Movie classic Charlie And The Chocolate Factory has been voted the top family film of all time.

The 1971 film - starring funnyman Gene Wilder as WILLY WONKA - beat box office smash hits ET THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy in the CHOICES VIDEO survey of 14,000 fans.

Steven Spielberg's ET was voted second, whilst The Lord Of The Rings came third and Star Wars took fourth place.

But not everyone was so enamoured with the screen version of Roald Dahl's best-selling novel WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, about a young orphan who wins a golden ticket.

Dahl was so furious with Hollywood's treatment of his work, he blocked plans for a sequel CHARLIE AND THE GREAT GLASS ELEVATOR.
