British actor Charlie Hunnam is leaving Los Angeles and moving to a rural ranch in a bid to escape the Hollywood party scene.

The Pacific Rim star, who has lived in L.A. for more than a decade, has bought a property outside of the city and is planning to move there full-time with his jewellery designer girlfriend Morgana MCNelis.

Hunnam, 33, wants to spend his time at the ranch growing vegetables and looking after animals.

He tells Britain's 7 Nights magazine, "I don't go to parties - I don't shuck (sic) and jive it up with the Hollywood crowd. None of that c**p interests me at all, and actually, my girlfriend and I just bought a ranch, so we are getting out of Hollywood completely. It's in California. We've got 30 chickens and a couple of donkeys, a couple of ducks and we've got a big, organic garden. We are going to try to live a bit more sustainably."

Hunnam plans to raise his chickens for their meat, but he admits he will struggle to kill the birds, adding, "The chickens have already started to make friends with me and I really want to eat them... Oh man! I am going to be taking them to the vet and giving them mouth to mouth."
