British actor Charlie Hunnam initially turned down the lead role in the upcoming Fifty Shades Of Grey movie before changing his mind.

The Sons of Anarchy star is preparing to play Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of E.L. James' best-selling erotic novel, but he has now revealed he passed on the role when it was first offered to him.

Peter Weller, one of the directors on the hit Tv show, has also admitted he talked to Hunnam about the part and attempted to change his mind about turning down the job.

He says, "He was on my set when they (the Fifty Shades of Grey producers) came back to him and they wanted him to do it because he passed on it once, you know. They came back to him and I said, 'Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, what do you think, this is too pulpy or something?' He said, 'Ah'. (I said) 'Well, let me give you the list of actors who did matinee idol style stuff, beginning with Cary Grant - let's go there. If you don't do this, I'll burn your house down'."

Hunnam eventually accepted the role, but insists he first turned the job down due to scheduling issues, adding, "I went and read the first book to get a clearer idea of who this character was and felt even more excited about the prospect of bringing him to life... (But) there was a bit of a timing issue where I just wanted to insure (sic) that I was going to have enough time to really do the preparation so I can bring this guy to life and do him justice and when they decided to push the schedule to accommodate that then I was a no-brainer and I was in."

At least Charlie can transform into Christian Grey and look the part, Dakota is ALL KINDS OF WRONG! Even as a brunette she doesn't look a damn thing like Ana and in books where they put a lot of emphasis on physical appearance you expect that the be part of their criteria when casting. I know these actors came cheap but surely unknowns were flocking to this film, who knows if they all had the chance to audition or not, but I bet they easily could've found a better actress to play Ana that had great chemistry with charlie, the talent, and actually resembled the character in the books. Seriously...
