Charlie Sheen 's career is well on the way to recovery, with the impending debut of his new comedy series 'Anger Management.' Now, it looks as though the troubled actor might be following in the footsteps of his father, Martin Sheen, by playing the President of the United States of America. The director Robert Rodriguez posted a message on Twitter to confirm that he had cast Charlie in MAChete Kills, the sequel to the Grindhouse action flick MAChete.
Rodriguez posted a picture of Sheen and himself on Twitter, with the caption "I just cast Charlie Sheen in machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon..." The deal was confirmed by Sheen's representatives who told Hollywood Reporter that negotiations were indeed well under way. Sheen's father, Martin Sheen, played the role of President for several years in Aaron Sorkin's hugely successful drama series The West Wing. Of course, given Rodriguez's B-movie tendencies, it's unlikely that MAChete Kills is going to have the same vibe as the prime-time drama that was The West Wing.
MAChete Kills already has a whole host of stars on board, including several members of the cast from the original 2010 movie. Danny Trejo and Jessica Alba will return and Sofia Vergara is down to star in the film too, along with Mel Gibson, Amber Heard and Demian Bechir. In the sequel, MAChete is employed by the US government to put an end to a cartel leader's dodgy ways.
