The AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE (AFI) presented the 78-year-old OSCAR winner with the new award at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday (23SEP03).
AFI board chairman HOWARD STRINGER says, "For decades, he has been a major presence in movies and television around the world.
