Dancing With The Stars' had its latest elimination round on Tuesday (October 25th 2011) and, in keeping with the form book from the previous night, it was lowest scorer Chaz Bono with professional dancer Lacey Schwimmer who got the boot.
Attention on Monday had focused on Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his celebrity partner Hope Solo after the former had a war of words with judge Len Goodman. Suggesting to Goodman that "maybe he should get out" of the dance business after a poor score for their rumba, the Ukrainian also fumed backstage to OnTheRedCarpet.com, saying "I've had it. I've had it a long time ago. I just kind of kept it cool but, look, she doesn't deserve it" Last night though he and Solo were saved by viewers at the expense of Sonny Bono and Cher's son Chaz, whose tango to 'Phantom Of The Opera' had also failed to impress the judges.
The 42 year-old, who was the first transgender star to appear on the long running reality show, was gracious in defeat, stating he hoped his run on the program had inspired others, saying, "I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man. If there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different", before adding, "And so I dedicated everything I did to all the people out there like me and especially to kids and teens who are struggling. You can have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy".
