Chaz Bono wants to be a WeightWatchers spokesman.

The former 'Dancing With The Stars' contestant - who was born a girl named Chastity and began gender reassignment treatment in 2008 - reportedly approached the weight loss company because he wants to lose 50 to 80 pounds and thinks he's the ideal person to follow in the footsteps of previous spokespeople Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Simpson.

A source told America's Star magazine: ''Chaz approached WeightWatchers about signing him on as their new pitchman. He wants the kind of exposure and support that Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Hudson got and thinks that he and WeightWatchers could bridge the gender divide over weight issues.

''After 'DWTS' Chaz assumed the acting and appearance offers would start rolling in. But his career has hit the skids.''

Chaz - whose parents are singer Cher and the late Sonny Bono - recently admitted he wanted a sex change from the age of four.

He said: ''As far back as four or five I felt like a boy and wished I was a boy. At that time I didn't know anything about people being transgender or changing their sex. As I started to get older I made the mistake of thinking I was gay.

''My mother is a gay icon yet she wasn't over the moon when I came out as a lesbian in 1995. I wasn't surprised by her reaction. In fact, I knew it was going to be bad.''
