Chelsea Handler teased her friend Reese Witherspoon about her infamous drunken arrest as she presented her with an award at the ELLE Annual Women Hollywood 2013 event.
The US chat show host mentioned the infamous traffic incident - which happened in April - on stage at ELLE's 20th Annual Women Hollywood Awards on Monday (21.10.13).
Chelsea, 38, said: ''Personally, as a true friend, my favourite project of hers was an overlooked short film that she made earlier this year.
''She plays a very inebriated housewife defending her inebriated husband. And if you haven't seen it, you can go on YouTube.''
E! News reported that 37-year-old actress Reese and her husband Jim Toth took the joke well, laughing at their own expense in front of the audience gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hollywood.
Chelsea was referring to the Oscar-winning star's arrest for disorderly conduct in April after she drunkenly refused to wait in the car when husband Toth was booked for drink driving. The incident was caught on camera and later emerged online.
Reese praised her good friend Chelsea earlier that night, telling E! News: ''Any party gets that much better when Chelsea Handler shows up.''
The actress is not the first to laugh at her own expense at the ELLE Awards. Last year Kristen Wiig had everyone in stitches, saying: ''I haven't pooped in four days ... I'm nervous about it. I'm wearing this tight dress and it's uncomfortable... I'll take something tonight, I promise''.
Amongst other guests at the show was 27-year-old Glee star Lea Michele, who was making her first red carpet appearance since her boyfriend Cory Monteith's death in July. She tweeted her excitement before the show: ''Glam time now with @giannandrea1 @melaniemakeup @Ashlie_Johnson & @EsteeStanley for tonight's @ELLEmagazine #WomenInHollywood Event!''
