Cheryl Cole has spoken of how she feared for her life when her private jet was grounded due to an electrical storm. The aeroplane was stranded as lighting struck the runway, with the 'Call My Name' singer thinking she was in her final moments.
Speaking to the UK's Sun newspaper, Cole explained how the plane was unable to take off after a storm struck in Frankfurt, Germany, while she was on tour. She explained, "We were stuck in the plane and just sitting on the runway and a bright massive flash of light hit outside the aircraft. I said to my friend, 'That's lightning' - then it just didn't stop". The 28-year-old admitted her life began to flash before her eyes, saying, "I was so scared that I thought, 'This is it. I've got an album to promote and I've got so much yet to do! We had to stay put in the aircraft on the runway. They couldn't even take us back to the terminal". Even though the plane managed to take to the skies, Cheryl said she was still terrified that they'd hit lightening in the air, though added, "But I remembered I'd climbed Kilimanjaro, so took a bit of strength from that".
Cole has risen to become one of the biggest pop-stars in the UK, and landed her latest No.1 with third album 'A Million Lights' earlier this month. She recently announced her first arena tour for October, following her four sold-out tours with GIRLS ALOUD.
