Former DA BAND rapper YOUNG CITY is set to appear in an Atlanta, Georgia court on Tuesday (06MAR07), over charges he assaulted his girlfriend. The 22-year-old hip-hop star, real name KEVIN BARNES, was arrested in Gwinett County and charged with simple assault, aggravated assault and obstruction of police officer in the incident. A judge declined to offer bail or bond, so Barnes remains in an Atlanta jail. Sources tell AllHipHop.com Barnes' girlfriend summoned her sister to their house following an argument and when her sibling arrived, together with her own boyfriend, Barnes was carrying a knife. Meanwhile, a bench warrant was issued on Wednesday (28FEB07) by a Maryland judge after Barnes missed a scheduled court appearance stemming from a 2001 arrest for robbing a man and holding a BB gun in Eastpoint Mall. Barnes originally used the nickname Chopper when he was discovered on Sean Combs' reality show MAKING THE BAND in 2002.
