Rumors that Chris Brown had been arrested at the 2012 Bet Awards in Los Angeles spread like wildfire on Sunday evening (July 1, 2012), with reports suggesting the singer had been detained for gun possession.X17 Online were first to claim that he was busted at the Shrine Auditorium after picking up the trophy for 'Entertainer of the Year'.
The site claims a "guest of the show" had confirmed that Brown was "detained by police and taken to the local Lapd station". However, E! Online and numerous other media outlets did some digging and quickly established that there had been no arrested. In fact, a representative for Brown - who was with the superstar all night - told Gossip Cop that there was no arrests and that "nothing of the sort happened". Brown has performed at the ceremony before scooping 'Entertainer of the Year', though the evening's top prize for 'Best Video' went to Kanye West and Jay Z for their track 'Otis'. The Watch the Throne pair also won 'Best Group'. Nicki Minaj scooped 'Best Hip-Hop Act', while Mariah Carey delivered a touching tribute to Whitney Houston.
Brown has hardly been out of the headlines since the infamous brawl at the Wip club in New York, with rival Drake. The superstar singer tweeted ex-partner Rihanna this week, sending his condolences after her grandmother passed away after losing her battle with cancer.
