Singer Chris Brown has pledged his support for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (Lgbt) community after asking fans to sign a petition to protect homosexuals in Africa.

The Kiss Kiss hitmaker sent out a link to his Twitter.com followers on Tuesday (01Oct13) to promote allout.org's request for Cameroon's President Biya to accept United Nations recommendations to safeguard Lgbt people in his country.

He wrote, "Love is not a crime. Gay or straight. Love who u (sic) wanna (sic) love. Stop the hate & (and) sign... Unity."

Earlier this year (13), Brown expressed his support for minorities and the Lgbt community with his single Don't Think They Know, which featured vocals from the late Aaliyah.

He said, "The new single is a part of my 'Unity Campaign' which encourages all races, genders, sexes (everyone) gay or straight to love each other.

"As a young inspiration to all types of people around the world, I have a moral obligation to let go of grudges or bs (bulls**t)."
