Chris Brown will perform at the 2012 Grammy Awards this Sunday (February 12, 2012), three years after he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna just hours before the show. The Barbadian R&B singer is also scheduled to perform at this weekend's awards show, fuelling rumors the pair could reunite on-stage, reports the Associated Press.
In 2009, both Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform live at the annual awards but cancelled their appearance after news of Brown's physical assault on his girlfriend surfaced. The subsequent court-case was hugely damaging to the singer's reputation and he is still serving the remainder of his five years' probation for the attack. Recent reports have speculated the former-couple may be ready to get back-together after numerous secret meetings, though Brown's representative Jeff Raymond played down the rumors, telling ABC News, "He and Rihanna are just friends. He is with his girlfriend, Karrueche, and is not cheating". Aspiring model Karrueche has been dating the R&B singer for several months and the pair were recently snapped parting at a Las Vegas club where Brown was hosting a New Year's Eve bash. Nevertheless, speculation of a reunion has intensified rumors that Brown and Rihanna could perform together at Sunday's show. Neither party has commented on the reports.
Rihanna latest album, Loud, is nominated for Album of the Year, as well as Best Pop Vocal Album and she has also been recognised for her collaborations with Drake, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Fergie. Brown album is nominated for Best R&B album.
