Chris Hemsworth has thanked fans after his latest film Snow White And The Huntsman debuted at number one at the U.S. box office over the weekend (01-03Jun12).
The movie became the fourth largest opening in the States this year (12), taking more than $56 million (£35 million) in ticket sales across the country.
Hemsworth, who plays The Huntsman, admits he is delighted the film is a runaway success.
He tells MTV News, "It was a relief, wasn't it? The thing is, people love the movie, the fans are excited about it, that's the biggest pat on the back, that's the biggest reward."
His co-star Kristen Stewart, who plays Snow White, adds, "I really dig this one so much. Like (Hemsworth) said, we're very proud. It could have done nothing and we'd still be proud of it, so it's cool that people sort of raised their hands and are like, 'I like it too!' It's sort of like, 'Really?'"
