Chris Klein has admitted himself to rehab.

The 'American Pie' actor is seeking treatment at the Cirque Lodge facility in Utah - where he will undergo a 30-day alcohol addiction programme - after being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) last week.

His representative Jaime Primak told People magazine: "After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years. He understands now that he can not beat this disease alone.

"He thanks everyone for their support as he takes all the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and asks for privacy while doing so."

Chris was taken into custody last week after failing a sobriety test in the early hours of Wednesday morning (16.06.10) in Los Angeles.

A police report claims he was "observed weaving from number three lane into the second and number four lane westbound US 1010 at Woodman Ave".

In 2005, he was arrested and later charged with two misdemeanour counts of DUI in San Diego - exceeding the blood-alcohol limit in California by more than double.

He had to undergo community service and saw his driving license suspended for 90 days, and received a $1,800 fine.
