Chris Martin's family insist there is ''no animosity'' between them and Gwyneth Paltrow following the couple's split.

The relatives of the Coldplay frontman have broken their silence for the first time since it was revealed earlier this week he is divorcing the actress after 11 years of marriage.

Chris's younger brother Alex told the Daily Mirror online: ''[Chris is] bearing up OK.

''I love them both dearly, we all get on and there is no animosity. Me and my brother are very close.''

Meanwhile, it is believed the pair, who admitted to working on their marriage for ''over a year'', had already thought about splitting their assets before announcing their separation.

The duo's new Malibu beach house, which was bought under a mystery trust a week before they separated, was purchased to create a bachelor pad for Chris, 37, so he could be near their children Apple, nine, and Moses, seven.

A property source said previously: ''For this property a new trust was created, called Magical Kingdom Land (trust), which signalled something definitely changed between the pair.

''Everything else they have owned together, including homes in London and New York was bought under Orchard House LLC.''

However, it is believed Chris, who moved to Los Angeles with Gwyneth, 41, last year, is keen to return to the UK as he has no friends or family in the US.
