Sex And The City star Chris Noth is closing the doors to his New York nightclub - 10 years after opening the venue in the city where the hit TV show was set.
The Cutting Room, a performance venue known for hosting endless A-list events and impromptu celebrity jam sessions, will close on 13 January (09) with sharp-tongued American comedienne Joan Rivers giving the final show.
Noth's partner, Steve Walter, insists business has been good, and hopes to reopen another venue in downtown Manhattan by the summer (09).
He tells the New York Post, "Our rent has tripled since we opened 10 years ago. Our lease was up in September. We tried negotiating with the landlord but couldn't work something out.
"We don't want to lose the momentum."
Noth previously announced his plans of expanding his empire, telling Interview magazine in May (08): "New York is pretty much commercialised to the point of no return... I want to take the club to Vegas. I think a Cutting Room would be great in Vegas. I just haven't really had the time to go out there and schmooze people and try to get them to invest millions of dollars."
